So, let’s just say I’m not someone who journals daily. I struggle with routine but crave it at the same time—go figure! But every time I sit down to pour it all out, it feels amazing, and I highly recommend it if you ever need to clear your mind.
This half-term was a whirlwind, but I think we made it through in one piece (just about!). We kicked off the week with the Newport Pagnell Christmas Lights Halloween Disco & Craft event. Xavier had a blast, and we got some lovely feedback, which always feels so rewarding.
Sunday was all about pumpkin picking with my brother, sister, and the “nibblings.” Octavia had the best time running around; she absolutely loved it!
By Monday, though, poor Octavia wasn’t feeling her best. Her first proper illness, and I’m sure not the last! But thankfully, my mum and aunt were heroes, coming over to help hang wallpaper in the bedroom. I love how it’s turning out and am so grateful for all their help.
Tuesday was an early start with the gym—Hell Week, to be exact! It was brutal, but once the aches faded, I felt incredible. After a quick shower, we set off for Norwich, excited to explore and visit Cosmic Jo’s. We did loads of walking, took in the town, and had an early night. The next morning, we were out exploring again, heading to Norwich Cathedral (thanks to Pete from CJ for the recommendation since the castle was mostly closed). Xavier had a blast with the crafts and activities they had on, so it was a win all around!
Warren spent the rest of the week finishing up the bedroom décor. It’s not quite done, but it’s looking more like a proper bedroom each day. Plus, we’ve managed a solid clear-out, which always feels good.
Halloween rolled around on Thursday, and we went trick-or-treating, not venturing too far but still managing a solid haul. Octavia really enjoyed her first proper Halloween, and it was a joy to see her so excited.
On Friday, just as Octavia was feeling better, Xavier came down with a bug, poor thing. We had to skip the fireworks, but there’s always next year.
Today was back to work for me, an odd start since I’m in my new role now but was stationed in the kitchen for the day. Now, I’m winding down because tomorrow is wisdom tooth extraction day—wish me luck! Until next time!
Takeaway: Sometimes life throws us all over the place, but those moments of togetherness and adventure make it all worthwhile. And even when things feel chaotic, taking time to catch up (and clear out!) helps put it all into perspective.
