This morning started early, but thankfully, it was because I had work—not because Octavia decided to wake up at the crack of dawn! Small victories, right?
That said, I still woke up to a little surprise. I noticed through the blind that next door’s security light was on, which usually means some wildlife has wandered by. Something told me to get up and check, and I’m so glad I did. Two young foxes were playing around in the garden, and it was such a magical moment. Watching them run around so carefree was the perfect start to my day.
Work was pretty uneventful, just the usual plodding through my shift. But catching up with colleagues I hadn’t seen in a while helped the time pass quicker.
Once I got home, Warren and I did something exciting—planning for our 10-year anniversary trip to Amsterdam next year! We’re looking at different packages, and I’m already buzzing with excitement. It feels good to have something like this to look forward to.
My sister popped over with her kids for a cuppa, which was a win-win. Not only did I get to have a good catch-up, but her kids kept mine entertained. Sometimes, it’s the simple things that make the day easier.
Later, Xavier went to my nephew’s cricket award ceremony. My nephew’s a year older and just started playing for a team this year. I’m excited that Xavier will be joining a team next year! I’m so grateful for having my village close by—it means moments like this are easy, and the kids get to grow up together.
And to top it all off, I won on the school lottery tonight! It’s just a little win, but honestly, those little victories go a long way. Feels like a good note to end the day on.
Takeaway: From magical moments with foxes to winning the school lottery, today was a reminder that even the smallest wins can bring a smile to your face.
